Description
General Description: Works closely with Executive Director to contact, communicate with, and coordinate congregations in central MA in support of Haitian and other migrant groups. Non-exempt position.
Schedule: Part-time, flexible hours, averaging 10 hours/week. Likely to be a long-term temporary position. Reports to the WAMS Executive Director.
Essential Functions
- Contacting UCC churches throughout central MA.
- Researching, and keeping records of, churches’ community mission work with migrant groups.
- Providing information on the needs of Haitians and other migrant families, both orally and in writing, to groups of adults and youth.
- Informing churches of volunteer opportunities and recruiting volunteers for distribution events and others.
- Speaking to church groups upon request.
- Communicating regularly and clearly with the churches, including writing and distributing a newsletter at least monthly.
- Coordinating churches’ work with migrants to achieve maximum impact.
- Organizing and facilitating in-person and Zoom meetings of representatives from multiple churches.
- Contacting other organizations working with migrant to learn and share information.
- Speaking at meetings of the WAMS Board of Directors.
- Organizing advocacy activities as needed.
- Participating in distributions and other events.
- Creating a data base of agencies involved in supporting migrants and sharing it as needed with churches.
- Carrying out other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned.
Physical and Mental Requirements and Skills
Ability to use computers and other office equipment and telephones; strong oral and written communication skills; good organizational skills; ability to attend meetings in person and remotely; ability to concentrate for extended periods; good interpersonal skills; ability to comply with health and safety requirements.

Qualifications
Passion for work supporting families in the immigration process in Central Massachusetts.
Comfort and knowledge in working with UCC churches in community organizing.
